The name BLAKcatberries comes from the two black cats that supervise our every move, deal with customer relations and generally keep everybody in line.
We are a Berry and Apple orchard situated in coastal Hawkes Bay in an area that has unique soil and climate conditions conducive to some very distinctive fruit styles.
Our berries are handpicked at optimum ripeness and primarily sold fresh at the gate and to local Farmers Markets.
Fresh Berries are available from begin December to about mid January with a small crop of autumn Raspberries generally from early April to end May. This varies from year to year.
We have a supply of frozen berries all year round which can be bought directly from the orchard most days or by arrangement. You can also find our berries at New World Havelock North and Hastings.
We are presently developing our jam ranges and are particularly enthusiastic about our jam made with Fructose (apple juice concentrate) rather than Sucrose. We do make jams with refined sugar but use 25% less sugar than traditional jams.
